Come and find out about the extraordinary life of Devon’s Swifts – and how you can help them.
A free illustrated talk by John Walters and Jerry Horn
7.30pm Tuesday 25th June
Teign Valley Community Hall, Christow
Swifts are amazing birds. They come here for just three months of every year to breed. But their numbers are declining, mostly because of a lack of nest sites.
But we can help. This year, the Devon Swift Project has installed Swift boxes in all the Teign Valley
churches. Many people have put nest boxes on their houses too. A display of Swiftboxes, advice and information will also be available.
All welcome - free entry and no requirement to book a place, the hall can seat 200 plus.
On the door donations appreciated for Devon Birds for the project.
The Devon Swift Group have installed Swift boxes in all the churches in the Teign Valley. Next installation is Exeter Cathedral. The funding has come from Devon Birds and Devon Environment Foundation. John Walters is talking about the ecology of the birds and Jerry Horn, who makes and installs the boxes, will talk about the project and future plans.
Thanks,
Donna
