Cutting meadows

Post by kim G »

We have 1 hectare of herb rich grass in Diptford and are having a problem getting our grass cut and baled. Last year we had it topped and had to hand rake up it, but we would rather not repeat that this year.

Any suggestions please?

Grazing is the other option. Is your fencing suitable to have some local cows in?

Thanks Steve, it’s an orchard I’m afraid with unguarded trees at 10 m spacing. So not suitable for cows.
We have been asking around today and it looks like we will have to use the topping option….

There is definitely a gap in the contractor market locally for small balers

Hello,
I know this is an old post but I am based near Diptford and have a flail mower collector on a small tractor that saves the job of raking up. Let me know if this is of interest any time.
