Help with cutting and baling 4 hay meadows in Newton Abbot

Post by Tim Bumby »

Hi All, I am on the look out for someone who may be able to cut and bale 4 hay meadows at one of my sites on the outskirts of Newton Abbot (roughly 15 acres). The site have been cut for hay for the last 30 odd years using a local farmer and they have recently decided they no longer want to cut the meadows, as such I am on the hunt for someone who might be able to help. The site is busy with public access and the equipment access to the site is very tight (pretty much ruling out most agricultural contractors due to size of their kit). The meadows are quite rich in terms of species diversity but do suffer from compaction due to visitor numbers. We had a count of 140 early purple orchids this spring.
My ask is whether there is anyone within the moor meadows community near Newton Abbot who might be interested in the hay or using it for green hay somewhere locally?
Any help gratefully received!!!
