Free Trees Offer – Dartmoor National Park area

Post by Donna Cox »

Free tree offer - for those located in Dartmoor National Park:

Do you have hedges that need gapping up? Would you like to plant new hedges? Or perhaps you’re interested in establishing a small copse or wooded area in a field corner or as a shelter belt?

If so, this offer could help you. However, act quickly, as the spare trees available through the Woodland Trust, Upstream Thinking, and Devon Wildlife Trust will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Key Details:

Eligibility: Open to those located in within Dartmoor National Park. Tree guards and canes can be provided if needed.
Maximum Allocation: Up to 650 trees per holding—sufficient for approximately 100 metres of hedging or ½ hectare of in-field block planting.
Minimum Allocation: While there’s no set minimum, for logistical reasons, single trees or very small quantities are not being offered.
Tree Varieties: Specific varieties cannot be guaranteed, but all trees are native species and carefully chosen to suit the area.

Another opportunity, for later this year, covering all of Devon will be Devon County Council's Free Tree Scheme. Applications for the next round will open in August or September 2025. The scheme provides free tree packs to landowners and communities across Devon. Each pack contains 45 native broadleaved trees, such as oak, birch, and rowan.
