Land around the Avon Dam...
Recently done a few landowner visits above South Brent village. This is a relatively new area for me so enjoying learning about the landscape, getting familiar with habitat, issues and meeting new landowners. Good to be on the moor and this part of the catchment. If you have land in that area and wo...

Re: Hello from South Hams
Hi Lynda, Bees certainly love borage. I grew it in my garden last year and it was a joy. We mostly do autumn sowing but if you have bare ground at the moment, and can provide some moisture, I'd consider getting your seed on now. Look forward to catching up with you later in the year. Best wishes, Ly...

Hi Nigel, I don't have any experience of the kit but am interested in EuCAN. Working for Devon Wildlife Trust with many non farming landowners who are creating/managing meadows but need kit & appropriate people to do so. May be in touch privately to learn more about your operation, funding etc a...

Dippers
Spent 20 minutes or so watching two male dippers in a turf war along the river at Gara Bridge last week. Assume they were defending nests. Are there any bird experts out there who can confirm this...or otherwise? Wonderful to witness & more dramatic than "Line of Duty"....

Re: Spring seeding?
Hello Kim, You need to create areas of bare ground to give chance of maximum establishment. Obviously in the spring plants have to cope with competition from growing grasses. Harrowing is effective as it creates a tilth. Are you thinking of seeding?

Spring seeding?
Has anyone had a go at spring seeding into an existing sward? With seed supplied by the Back from the Brink Grey Long Eared Bat Project, and enthusiastic meadow maker adjoining DWT Andrews Wood Nature Reserve, we gave it a go. This 4 acre field was re-seeded from arable with a basic meadow mix last ...
