Open Meadows 2025
Posted: Sun Apr 27, 2025 1:45 pm
We are pleased to publish the list of meadows opening this year for the Moor Meadows Open Meadows programme.
Spring is rolling along and the first meadow opens in just 3 weeks, on 18 May. The others follow thick and fast.
Please do take a look at the programme and put some of these in your diary. The owners are always delighted to see visitors and are ready to chat about their meadow and meadow-management.
There is plenty to see at every site and they all vary: in type, from water meadows through top-of-the-moor meadows to steep valley sites; they may be managed single-handedly, by a community or as part of the farming year for larger sites; their flora may be one that loves damp conditions or one that thrives in poor soil in full sun, perhaps includes an orchard, or is managed in a traditional way for hay, including being cut by hand with a scythe. Whatever you’re interested in, it is almost certain to be happening in a meadow somewhere on our programme.
The schedule can be found here: https://tinyurl.com/2tvss9h5 and the meadows and their details are also on a map here: https://tinyurl.com/58aum99h.
We hope you enjoy some lovely days out in these meadows.
