In this talk, ecologist Jack Rivers from Devon’s Biodiversity Records Centre will delve into the topic of County Wildlife Sites (CWS). These special places are vital havens for biodiversity, supporting and connecting priority habitats and species across the landscape. They represent some of the most ecologically valuable sites outside of statutory designations such as National Nature Reserves (NNRs) and Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs).
Jack will explain the importance of County Wildlife Sites and the role they play in local conservation. As the organisation responsible for managing the CWS network in Devon, DBRC, like other Local Environmental Record Centres, collects and maintains vital wildlife data.
