I have been increasingly concerned about the sorry state of hedgerows in Devon. Hopefully this short article will raise awareness and lead to better practices. Malcolm Baldwin

Any advice as to what to do when possibly a badger has come through a hedge and made a wide gap in it..?

Laying the hedge should fill the gap, so long as the trees are taller than the width of the hole.
Hedge-laying is surprisingly easy - after one day's training I felt confident to manage various sections around our land. If it is a long continuous hedge and you don't have the energy to lay it all, you can just lay a section where the gap is.
There are some very useful short videos on the Forum that explain the technique.
Hope that helps!
