Matt is Plantlife’s experienced meadows specialist who advises landowners and farmers on the best ways to create and manage meadows. The talk is a step-by-step guide on how to restore, create and manage a wildflower meadow. Matt is joined by Philip Hamley of Lethytep who shares how he successfully restored several fields to stunning wildflower meadows using green hay. Wildflower meadows are among the most important wildlife habitats in the UK as they support substantial numbers of plant and animal species. Yet only fragments of them remain, largely due to changes in agriculture during the 20th century. The good news is they can be restored or created on farmland, in gardens and churchyards and on roadside verges.
