Pollinators are vital for agriculture and the environment but how much do you know about them?
The West Devon Meadows Group and the Cornwall-based Wildflower Collective are holding an Introduction to Pollinators course on Thursday, July 31st at the Tamar Valley Centre at Gunnislake.
It is being run by Budding Nature a community interest company that specialises in nature workshops. It starts at 10.30am and will finish at 3.30pm.
Attendees will learn how to identify the key pollinator groups which will enable them to monitor sites and take part in citizen science surveys. The course will be taken by Dr Sally Luker, a director of Budding Nature and a leading entomologist. The first part will be held inside but the afternoon will be spent surveying for pollinators in a wildlife area surrounding the centre.
The cost is £22 which includes a small fee to help pay for the costs of hiring the centre. It is half price for students those on a low wage and there are free places for people who are not currently working.
