Bad year for yellow Rattle ?
Visited a few sites and Yellow Rattle seems very low in numbers due to the drought and have being told by someone on a sloping chalky site near by it's not showed up at all. I presume this is the same on all sites all over the country ?

Re: Bad year for yellow Rattle ?
No noticeable difference in rattle growth to usual here on Dartmoor, but it was a very dry spring, so I guess it's possible that on a sloping chaulky site, dry soil may have hindered rattle germination/growth, as being one of the few annuals in grassland it has shallow roots compared to other plants in the sward.

On a small site that until a few years ago was a lawn we have very dense stands of YR this year. Probably the densest l have seen anywhere.
