Would you like to buy a former mill in West Devon surrounded by a private nature reserve that is teeming with wildlife and has a fascinating history?
The 34-acre reserve, six miles from Launceston, is home to an extraordinary range of species; from Beavers to Glow worms and Kingfishers to Harvest mice and includes a river, ponds, meadows and deciduous woodland.
For 40 years it was the home and workplace of the well-known inventor and environmental scientist, Prof. James Lovelock, who established the reserve. The former agricultural building, which housed his laboratory, is included in the sale.
The site has been managed for wildlife for more than 50 years. This is a reluctant sale and, although we don’t wish to sell this year, we’re keen to identify potential buyers who want to continue the work that Prof. Lovelock started.
The property, which is not being widely advertised, includes a successful holiday let that has been refurbished together with other outbuildings. However the mill does not have any of its workings and is in need of renovation.
