Collaven Moor appeal

Post by Jon Valters »

Meadow lovers in West Devon might like to support a bid by the Devon Wildlife Trust to buy a wildflower-rich area of grassland near Okehampton.
Collaven Moor adjoins the Trust's existing Stourton Quarry and would double the size of the reserve.
The moor consists of 20 acres of wet grassland, heath, fen meadow and wet flushes. It is home to scarce species such as Grasshopper warbler, Narrow-bordered bee hawkmoth, and the Common blue butterfly while plant species include Great burnet, Meadow thistle and Wavy St John's wort.
The Trust has until January 31st to raise £58,000. Details of the appeal can be found on the Trust's website.
