The Joy of Thistles
In our meadow by the brook at 9.30 this morning the pollinators were already busy in a sunlit patch of thistles. If I leave the thistles to set seed they will probably be visited by goldfinches in a little while.

Last year we left a massive spear thistle to grow in our garden. I was a bit worried about it spreading but the goldfinches did a good job and we don’t have any thistle offspring this year
