You need to create bare soil but not deeply cultivated soil, a triple K type machine tends to go too deep and just pull up clumps of turf leaving a very rough surface. Stephen, I just spun some on for someone this week, it was a bit wet but not too bad, as long as it doesn't get waterlogged and rot the seed it should be Ok.
